The Union League Club of Chicago and its partners, The Great Books Foundation and WTTW/WFMT, invite you to join us on the 150th anniversary of the Surrender at Appomattox, for a special celebration of the most famous inaugural address in American history. Joseph Coulson, President of The Great Books Foundation, and Don Whitfield, Director of Great Books Discussions, will guide a conversation with leading Chicago citizens, exploring the continuing significance of the words and ideas articulated in Abraham Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address, and the need for reconciliation and healing after any conflict.
